#3. HMDX Jam Plus Wireless Speaker Review

The Jam Plus wireless speaker is a new product from HMDX with improved sound, upgraded functions, and bright multi-colour options. The Jam Plus speaker is larger than the earlier version and, if you purchase a pair, they can now be linked to give a stereo configuration offering you an enhanced soundstage wherever you listen to your music.

Funk wrapper

Still available in a rainbow assortment of cool ‘flavours’ – blue, grey, pink, purple, and yellow – the new Jam Plus wireless speaker is unlikely to escape the notice of your friends. The familiar ‘jam pot’ shape and packaging remain, as does the tapered shape, standing 7.6 cm tall and narrowing from 7.6 cm at the base to 6.6 cm at the top. This gives the Jam Plus speaker a larger profile than the earlier Jam model it replaces, though, surprisingly, at just under 277 grams, it actually weighs around ten percent less. Built from plastic with rubberised sections at the base and on top, the HMDX Jam Plus looks solid and stable.

Sweet music

Amongst the first Bluetooth mini speakers to pioneer the ‘stereo pair’ option, the Jam Plus wireless speaker shows that HMDX are totally committed to the portable speaker format. Now your friends will be seeking out that ‘sweet spot’ where the audio left and right channels of your two speakers merge to get the best listening experience with every track. The HMDX Jam Plus still packs plenty of good quality, room-filling sound for its size.

Dual Bluetooth

Dual audio streaming via Bluetooth is a set to be a growing trend in wireless speakers. Thankfully, with the HMDX Jam Plus it’s a feature that’s already included and easy to operate using the L and R switches found on the base. A sound effect confirms the pairing; leaving you to relax and enjoy the stereo experience anywhere you please.

Main Features:

  • Powerful speaker with clear sound.
  • Wireless range: up to 10 metres.
  • Compatible with all Bluetooth-enabled devices.
  • Aux input: 3.5 mm stereo.
  • On-board rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery – up to 4 hours playback.
  • Ultra-compact and smart.

  • 3.5mm Aux-In cable.
  • Dimensions: W 7.6 cm x D 6.6 cm x H 7.6 cm.

HMDX Jam Plus speaker review

Before I checked out the review, I first noticed these in my fitness class. They were pumping out crystal clear stereo sound – my coach had two of them – and he was having to yell out above the amazing volume they push out. The Jam Plus versions can wirelessly sync with each other and also your smartphone, or iPhone 4S in my case, to give a realistic L/R stereo playback.

#4. Soundfreaq Sound Kick SFQ-04

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1609″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]With the Soundfreaq Sound Kick SFQ-04 speaker you can wirelessly stream your favourite music direct from any Bluetooth-enabled device. There’s a universal USB power port for device-charging, and the Sound Kick’s rechargeable battery delivers up to 7 hours continuous music playback.

Minimalist design

Measuring 26.7 cm wide by 10.7 cm tall and 4.1 cm deep, the Soundfreaq SFQ-04 resembles a black box with a thin, detailed stripe pattern on each side, except for its flat bottom and notched top. The top houses eight buttons, all registering capacitive touch rather than physical movement, except for the far-right power button. At the front, the Sound Kick’s metal speaker grille is decorated with a centred logo with a white light bar underneath. Connectors are positioned at the rear which also houses the pull-out Xkick chamber. This doubles as both an angled stand which tilts the speaker slightly upwards, and as a bass-enhancement port. The Soundfreaq Sound Kick will not replay audio until the Xkick chamber is properly in position. Click here to get 15% off the Soundfreaq Sound Kick SFQ-04.

Kickin’ audio

Equipped with two 58 mm drivers, the Soundfreaq Sound Kick review model delivers a powerful audio performance. Treble, midrange and bass frequencies all sound expansive in playback with plenty of detail, and, provided you choose the UQ3 ‘spatial enhancement’ option, there’s no trace of distortion, even as the unit is wound up towards its peak.

Sound Kick’s connectivity

Featuring Bluetooth 2.0 A2DP wireless connectivity, the Soundfreaq SFQ-04 pairs easily with all Bluetooth-enabled devices and even remembers pairing details when accessed by multiple devices. Its wireless connection is robust and reliable up to, and even beyond, its 10-metre range. Xtra features

Soundfreaq Sound Kick review

I recently discovered the Soundfreaq SFQ-04 whilst doing, a quick ‘surf’ of reviews. Though I’d never heard of this outfit, with the Soundfreaq Sound Kick review there was nothing bad, anywhere, and most were great. So I took the plunge and bought one. Let me just say that the Sound Kick is brilliant. For my money, the sound is equally as good – in many respects ‘deeper’ than some speakers which are pushing $200 more expensive.

#5. Audio Dynamix- The PULSE Review

The new Audio Dynamix Pulse stereo rechargeable speaker includes Bluetooth v4.0 compatibility for enhanced audio and data-rich device connectivity. With a slick clean design, pulsating audio performance, comprehensive compatibility options and 12 hours music playback, this small but solid micro speaker just demands to be put through its paces.

Mobile audio in the UK

Active since their launch in autumn 2012, Devon’s Audio Dynamix Ltd have developed a new collection of mobile audio devices utilising wireless technology. Their aim is to create and build their new devices to the best possible audio standards within each category, and across their whole product range. Equally, Audio Dynamix Ltd seeks to ensure their new designs embrace current and future-oriented features and functions, and are marketed at competitive prices.

Creative sound strategy

Though the diminutive Pulse measures a mere 190 x 86 x 75 mm and weighs just 700 grams, there is nothing about this punchy Bluetooth speaker which screams ‘lightweight’. Finished in silver and light grey with just a single logo and a top-mounted control panel, the Pulse’s robust geometric case in stainless steel and brushed aluminium is a pleasing three-dimensional shape. However, the Pulse design cleverly avoids an ‘equilateral’ regular-shaped enclosure, because irregular acoustic spaces always deliver a superior audio performance by avoiding the unnatural sound coloration associated with strictly symmetrical structures.

Pulse audio

The Audio Dynamix Pulse portable speaker is designed with high-performance audio in mind, and it’s two full-range 50-mm long-throw speaker drivers deliver an ‘immersive listening experience‘ with stunning clarity and definition right across the audio spectrum.
With two onboard passive bass radiators shaping the low end, the depth and richness of the bass is particularly impressive, adding more weight and presence to all your favourite music tracks than would be expected from an enclosure of this size. The Pulse also offers 3D Digital Signal Processing – its own digital sound enhancement – delivers room-filling volume with consummate ease, and is able to handle high gain levels without introducing distortion. ( Currently on offer for under $90)

Pulse hub

Featuring the advanced Bluetooth version 4.0 – with apt-X for high-quality audio streaming – the Pulse is ultra-compatible with the latest iPhone, smartphone and Windows phones and devices, and its extended 20-metre range adds extra convenience. Just a 3-hour charge gives 12 hours non-stop music playback, and an onboard microphone gives hands-free speakerphone communication to keep you in the loop whenever your friends give you a call.

Main Features:

  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery: 8-15hours playback.
  • Bluetooth streaming: V4.0 with apt-X
  • Bluetooth range: 20metres.
  • Speakers: 2 x 50mm Kevlar Ultra long throw, 2 x passive bass radiators.
  • Hands-free calls.

Audio Dynamix Pulse review

I was really impressed with this Pulse speaker from Audio Dynamix. The build quality of this rugged 10-watt powerhouse is outstanding. Its rubber feet make it very stable and, with absolutely no distortion at high volume, this speaker can fill a room with ease – it’s great for the garden and the beach too.

#6. Audio Dynamix X05 UE2 Review

The X05′s acoustically tuned cabinet enclosure houses two high-specification full-range speakers with extra-large diaphragms, plus a 100-mm passive bass radiator for further shaping and reinforcement of the lower frequencies. As a result, the X05′s high-quality digital amplifier delivers a superb full sound with a rich bass and impressively detailed treble and midrange voicing, bringing new life and a clearer focus to any style of music.

Audio Dynamix X05-UE2 User Review

Whilst waiting to replace my stereo, I read a review on the X05. Since most of my music is stored on my mp3 player and phone, I decided to give it a try. The Bluetooth facility was very handy; it has a great range and doesn’t suffer from signal dropouts. This speaker is unexpectedly light and looks smart and well-finished. Charging up for the first time took under two hours, and the speaker has been used for 8-10 hours so far. The X05′s most impressive feature is its audio quality which has put some extra zip into all my favourite tracks. This speaker has all the volume I need to fill a room with superb sound.

#7. Damson Twist Review

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1615″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]The Damson Twist speaker is part of Damson Audio’s innovative range of elegantly engineered portable audio speakers. Tiny enough to fit comfortably into the palm of your hand, the Damson Twist still manages to deliver a big audio sound you can not only hear, but feel too. Really simple to control and easy to set up – when you learn its audio secret – the Twist’s audio power comfortably fills most rooms without effort.

UK audio innovators

Damson Audio’s design team have developed new and original approaches to get the best audio performance from their small portable speakers. Technologies such as enhanced audio distribution and new methods of sound generation are re-defining what small speakers can do.

Audio design with a Twist

The Damson Twist is a small but substantial rounded aluminium brick considerably heavier than most portable micro speakers. Its bulk is necessary because an innovative vibrating action is used to generate audio via the surfaces it comes into contact with, rather than through a conventional speaker cone. The Damson Twist speaker also does away with a conventional control surface; instead, you just twist the unit to instantly select the desired operating mode. A neat, eye catching and ultra-portable unit, the Twist comes in four colours: silver, red, blue, or black.

Good vibrations

The Damson Twist speaker adopts a unique approach to generating sounds. Believing many small speakers sound ‘tinny’, Damson’s sound engineers developed their own ‘Incisor diffusion technology’ to push full-range audio, through, and across, any hard surface the speaker rests on. The surface acts as a ‘speaker cone’ – which is why the Damson Twist review model doesn’t have one. Just like real speaker enclosures, audio volume is directly related to the size of surface used to amplify the sound – so a larger surface produces a louder sound.

Connectivity with a Twist

Featuring A2DP Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming, the Damson Twist pairs easily with any Bluetooth-enabled device within its 10-metre range. Non-Bluetooth wired-audio devices are also supported, and these can be connected via a built-in stereo 3.5 mm audio input. Choosing either of these options is just a matter of twisting the unit to select your setting. Your input selection is visually recognised and confirmed as the front logo glows blue or white in response.

Main Features:

  • Speaker: Incisor Diffusion Technology.
  • Power output: 10 watts.
  • A2DP Bluetooth: for streaming wireless audio.
  • Audio-In: stereo 3.5 mm.
  • Audio-out: stereo 3.5 mm – ‘daisy-chain’ extra units for a bigger sound.
  • On-board battery: Lithium-Ion, rechargeable via USB socket.
  • Music playback: up to 9 hours.

Damson Twist review

This little Damson Twist speaker, which you might have seen demonstrated at the Gadget Show, punches well above its weight. I first spotted it when I read a Damson Twist review on a magazine tech page. The major feature of the Damson Twist is that it vibrates vertically, therefore transmitting the bass through anything in direct contact, such as bedside cabinets, glass mirrors, wooden flooring – in fact anything reasonably solid. But my favourite by far is to use the suction-cup accessory to sucker it to the side of my bedroom wardrobe for a massive 2m x 750mm bass bin.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Check Price on Amazon” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Famzn.to%2F2T4EKfb||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

#8. Sony SRSBTX300 Bluetooth Speaker Review

The Sony SRSBTX300 portable speaker takes both form and function seriously, so you’ll get a strikingly stylish music accessory which will give you high-quality audio playback anytime and anywhere. What’s more, it’s packed with features and compatibility options. With a great sound and great connectivity, this Sony speaker is ready to slot into your lifestyle alongside your digital music and mobile audio devices.

Tasteful design

The Sony SRSBTX300 portable speaker has a neat, classy look which is easy on the eye. Its rounded outer shell, made from smooth brushed aluminium, is both attractive and solid, and comes in a choice of black or white. The Sony logo appears top-left on the otherwise plain metallic speaker grille at the front, and along the top of the unit is a kick-stand release, speaker phone button, volume control and battery-status LED. Once unlocked, the integral kick-stand unlocks and slides into its ‘support’ position. This both reveals a neat control panel and switches the power on. Audio, Bluetooth and USB connectors are tucked away on a small rear panel.

Sparkling audio

The Sony SRSBTX300 Bluetooth speaker benefits from Sony’s innovative ‘Magnetic Fluid’ technology. As any review will confirm, this feature is much influenced by NASA developments and is designed to boost speaker efficiency, optimising clarity whilst also reducing distortion. Powered by Sony’s S-digital amplifier driving a dual array of high-quality speaker drivers and a bass radiator, audio tracks played through the Sony SRSBTX300 speaker will sparkle with new life. You will hear rich bass, crisp clear vocals, and a full polished, distortion-free sound. There’s also plenty of volume available for those occasions when nothing less than a room-full of sound will do.

Connectivity menu

Sony have incorporated the latest NFC compatibility with their SRSBTX300 speaker. Just a tap from an NFC-enabled Smartphone is enough to connect; and all Bluetooth devices are easy to pair too, with both AAC and Apt-X formats supported. This speaker will also charge your Smartphone or Tablet whilst you listen to high-quality streamed audio, and completes its range of handy options with a hands-free call-answering function.

Main Features:

  • S-Master digital amplifier
  • Speaker Drivers: 1 x 70 mm, 1 x 103 mm, 1 x 60 mm.
  • Output: 10 watts x 2.
  • Bluetooth: AAC, Apt-X.
  • One-touch NFC (near field connectivity).
  • Smartphone charging via USB.
  • Hands-free calls.
  • Battery life: 8 hours.

Sony SRSBTX300 Bluetooth speaker review

The Sony speaker in my review is at the upper-end of the portable speaker range, and looks the part too. This won’t work free standing – the on-board kick-stand must be open first. Bluetooth paired quickly with my iPhone, and remembers the speaker whenever it’s on. As you would expect, the usual volume/speaker phone buttons are found on the top. Thanks to 2 speaker drivers outputting 20 watts, the sound that’s delivered is massive, and quality is really special, even with the volume going up & up.

#9. TDK A33 Review

Boasting an impressive audio pedigree, the TDK Wireless Speaker offers wireless music streaming alongside an exceptional audio performance. Its portable design, rechargeable battery and weatherproof design means you can party both indoors and outdoors for just as long as you choose. And, once the word is out, there’s a hands-free speakerphone to take the calls from your friends.

TDK’s rich audio legacy

Known for decades as global manufacturers of quality cassette tapes, TDK have evolved to meet the challenge of modern digital lifestyles by moving into digital recordable media, premium quality headphones, stylish boomboxes, and other domestic digital audio products. Now branded as ‘TDK Life on Record’, TDK have used their vast experience of high-fidelity audio to create a range of products which give consumers ‘universal input flexibility and portability in all areas of their lives’.

Design essentials

The rectangular TDK Wireless Speaker has a rugged outer case which has been carefully weatherproofed to IP64 standards – which includes a rubber moisture-resistant outer covering with rubber-sealed connecting ports. The front speaker grille, which has a ‘TDK Life on Record‘ central logo, protects two front-facing speaker drivers, whilst a powered sub-woofer and twin passive radiators are housed at the rear. Control functions are accessible from a top panel, and the (protected) connection ports are located on the side. A kickstand support allows the speaker to be angled upwards to open up the soundstage.

Audio without compromise

Thanks, no doubt, to the expertise of its designers, the TDK Wireless Speaker delivers a sound performance to rival that of much more expensive Bluetooth speakers. The speaker array features two full-range powered drivers at the front, with two 3” passive radiators and a powered sub-woofer at the rear of the cabinet. Stereo separation is exceptional with superb overall audio clarity and a bass kick to bring all of your music tracks to life. Stylewise, this TDK A33 review model is equally at home with classical music, producing faithful audio performances with a rich, full resonance.

Lifestyle connectivity

The TDK Wireless Speaker has Bluetooth 2.1 functionality and supports the AAC sound protocol for audio streaming of the highest quality from mobile audio sources such as laptops, tablets and smartphones. A stereo audio input is also provided for wired connection to MP3 players and similar non-Bluetooth audio sources. In addition, there is an on-board microphone for hands-free calls and a USB port to enable the charging of iPhones.

Main Features:

  • Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR with AAC.
  • Speakers: 2 x 1.5” full-range drivers, 2 x 3” passive radiators, 1 x sub-woofer.
  • TDK Signature Sound amplification.
  • Weatherproof IP64 design.
  • Rechargeable battery: 6 hours portable music playback.
  • Speakerphone function for hands-free calls.
  • Aux input: 3.5 mm stereo audio.

TDK A33 Review

If you are reading this, you probably need a TDK A33 review to make a decision on whether or not to purchase. So, to cut to the chase, the A33 is the best sounding Bluetooth speaker I have tested so far. This portable speaker can get suitably loud whilst still delivering good sound quality without irritating distortion. The playback sounds very well balanced, and the speaker performs equally well on subtle classical pieces or heavy metal tracks, with no background noises. The Bluetooth range seems to be good too. Though TDK are not yet well-known in the speaker field, you will find the A33 a real bargain which also sounds amazingly good and deserves wider recognition.

#10. Bolse 10W High-Definition Bluetooth Speaker

If you’re looking for a small portable Bluetooth speaker in a very affordable price bracket which has plenty of features, then the Bolse 10-watt high-definition speaker might just be the boom to fill your room. Designed as a sound bar, the Bolse can stream audio from all the latest portable devices, offers a very respectable music playback, contactless NFC, and even has a speakerphone function. Bolse offers you the power to party without breaking the bank!

Pyramid construction

Distinctively pyramidal with a ‘tri-vector body’, this triangular portable Bluetooth speaker from Bolse is built from silver-grey aluminium and, as a result, manages to look both stylish and solid. The front section is completely covered with a dark-grey speaker grille with a centred logo just below. Each end of the boom-type sound bar is triangular in section and has a neat black border strip around the inner edges. A recess at the top of the enclosure houses a music-control interface, external connectors and power switch. The cabinet design gives the dual speakers an audio-enhancing upward tilt.

DSP audio

Music fans will appreciate the Bolse’s onboard digital sound processing which has been ‘engineered to make music come alive with 3D high-power sound‘. In effect, a custom microprocessor rapidly converts the streaming audio signal to minimise transfer losses, and thus considerably enriching audio quality. As a result of this feature, plus powerful twin 50-mm speaker drivers and a dedicated sub-woofer, this portable Bluetooth speaker delivers creditable distortion-free audio clarity across the sound spectrum, and a pleasing full-strength bass. Sound quality is also positively enhanced by the Bolse’s enclosure design, especially the improved stereo sound distribution contributed by its upward-tilting speaker drivers.

Contemporary connectivity

The Bolse handles Bluetooth audio streaming well, particularly if your smartphone features the new NFC (near field communication) ‘contactless’ communication. All the latest smartphones and Tablets are compatible, and there’s also an aux-input for when you want to access music on your your non-Bluetooth devices using an audio cable. In addition, the music playback time on a single charge is at least 10 hours – and often more – and a built-in microphone for hands-free calls means you can stay connected with your friends even when your music’s pumping.

Main Features:

  • Bluetooth streaming, NFC, A2DP.
  • Bluetooth range: 10 metres.
  • Digital Sound Processing technology.
  • Audio output: 2 x 5 watts.
  • Speakers: 2 x 50mm drivers,
  • Passive sub-woofer.
  • Frequency range: 60Hz – 18kHz.
  • Aux input: 3.5-mm stereo jack.
  • Built-in microphone for hands-free calls.
  • Onboard lithium-ion rechargeable battery.
  • Music playback: 10 hours.

Bolse 10W High-Definition Bluetooth Speaker review

For such an incredibly affordable price, this is an extraordinary Bluetooth speaker with some features you might not expect. I think the overall sound created is massive for its size and definitely well-balanced, clear & spacious with a rich bass which seems almost perfect. At maximum volume, this speaker will fill a normal room as well as speakers in a higher price bracket. Bluetooth streaming worked effortlessly via an iPhone, tablet and a smartphone. There has been no problem at all with the range, and music control is just child’s play. Anything that’s not Bluetooth can still connect through the handy aux input. Quoted battery life is 10 hours, but we seem to do much better – double and more! For the price, this little boom bar can’t be beaten.

Reasons for the Popularity of the Best Bluetooth Speakers

A World Without Wires

One of the most distinct advantages of the best bluetooth wireless speakers is that they are wireless. This means they do not cause clutter or limit mobility. Wires used with other types of speakers can be an added expense to installation. Blue tooth speakers eliminate the need for wiring and the drawbacks that come along with it.

Simple Configuration

Most speakers that use Bluetooth technology have a range of about 30 feet. Pairing these speakers with some devices may involve entering a security code to complete the pairing. However, even with the requirement for pairing, speakers with this technology are much easier to configure than wired systems.

Not a Power Hog

Blue tooth speakers consume low amounts of power making them ideal for small, portable devices such as tablets and cell phones. Most Bluetooth devices use about 2.5 milliwatts of power. These speakers are also designed to automatically power their radios down during periods of inactivity.

Standardized Technology

These types of speakers feature standardized technology. This means that they can always be compatible with devices made by different manufacturers.

Cost

Blue tooth speakers are available in a wide range of prices. Most are quite affordable because they contain inexpensive circuitry. The ease of installing these devices passes the savings to the consumer. We have done the work for you with this one stop one shop comparison guide that compares the features and price ranges for the highest rated blue tooth speaker.

Portable speakers are very affordable because they are small. While larger non-portable speakers are more expensive because they come with more features.
